SUMMARY:Autonomous Mobile Robotics- Foundations\, Challenges and Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:This course and experimental workshop covers the different technological and foundational aspects of mobile robotics and manipulation\, and artificial intelligence towards increased autonomy. It includes sensing\, localization and mapping\, navigation and obstacle avoidance. The artificial intelligence focuses on machine learning in autonomous mobile robotics. The current state-of-the-art will also be presented together with current challenges and opportunities\, including the future of robotics and its impact. Course participants will have the opportunity to apply your learnt knowledge in building a small mobile robot with intelligence and bring it home at the end of the workshop to motivate you to continue learning this domain technology and value-add to your work!

Drawing on recent defence surveys and case studies\, the course highlights predictive maintenance\, mission rehearsal\, logistics optimisation\, and resilience planning\, while addressing key gaps in standards\, interoperability\, and trust to prepare participants for real-world digital twin implementation.
